Innovations in Oncology: Seminar in Odesa
On October 29, 2025, a seminar took place in Odesa, dedicated to the latest advancements in oncology, specifically regarding breast and lung cancer treatment.
This event was organized with the support of the Odesa City Health Department, the Ukrainian Association of Evidence-Based Medicine, and the Odesa Regional Family Medicine Association.
During the seminar, topics related to early diagnosis and prevention of cancer in Odesa were discussed, along with global achievements in lung cancer treatment and palliative care support.
According to last year’s statistics, there are over 47 thousand cancer patients registered in Odesa, including 168 children. This highlights the urgent need for preventive measures and early diagnosis of malignant tumors.
The Odesa City Health Department has launched the “Odesa Against Cancer” project, aimed at improving access to diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients and raising awareness about prevention and early detection among residents.
The introduction of regular preventive screenings by the Health Department has increased the population's participation in cancer screenings aimed at early detection of diseases.
In the first half of 2025, medical facilities in Odesa conducted over 30 thousand preventive examinations, of which more than 15.5 thousand were cancer screenings, leading to the first identification of 300 cases suspected of oncological pathology.
Health Department specialists developed patient roadmaps for timely prevention and early detection of cancer, available via QR codes.
Informational posters are placed at bus stops and other public spaces to disseminate information about early diagnosis and prevention of cancer among the residents of Odesa.
