New Horizons for Barrier-Free Initiatives in Ukraine
Odesa joined an important national gathering focused on barrier-free initiatives. The first meeting of ambassadors took place in Kyiv.
The event featured speeches from Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Munir Mamedzade, and the President's Advisor on barrier-free issues Tetiana Lomakina.
Valentyna Khoruzha, head of the Youth Council under the Odesa Mayor, shared Odesa's experience in creating accessible spaces and established collaboration with ambassadors from other regions.
“I am proud to be part of the team working on the ‘Movement Without Barriers’ project that is changing our country for the better,” emphasized Valentyna Khoruzha.
The ‘Movement Without Barriers’ project is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Community Development, operating under Olena Zelenska's program. It encompasses 15 pilot communities where accessible routes to essential social facilities are being developed, ensuring unimpeded movement for all mobility-impaired groups.
