The latest global ranking of universities by Times Higher Education 2026 features 22 Ukrainian institutions of higher education — five more than last year. Two universities from Odesa are also included in the list. This information is confirmed by the data from the World University Rankings 2026.
This year, Ukraine set a record for the number of universities in the Times Higher Education global ranking — 22 universities secured a spot in the list. Odesa National University named after Ilya Mechnikov placed in the group 1501+, while Odesa Polytechnic University received the status of "ranking participant".
The best performance among Ukrainian universities was shown by Sumy State University, which entered the group 801–1000. Other universities, including those from Odesa, ranked in lower tiers, but their presence signifies the gradual development and improvement of Ukrainian education. Despite the challenging situation, universities continue to enhance research activities, expand international cooperation, and attract students from various countries.
