Man Arrested in Odesa for Illegal Arms Manufacturing
A man in Odesa has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in illegal arms manufacturing and sales.
Law enforcement authorities, including the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the SBU, conducted an operation to apprehend the suspect, who had set up a workshop for illegal arms modifications in his garage.
According to police information, the 42-year-old man ordered replicas of firearms online and modified them into real weapons for sale in the Odesa region.
Authorities documented the sale of modified weapons for 39,000 hryvnias. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to deliver another shipment with the help of a special police unit.
During the searches conducted in his vehicle, residence, and garage, various items resembling weapon replicas, ammunition, and equipment used for modifications were seized.
Among the confiscated items were cash and other materials indicative of his criminal activities. The police are continuing the investigation.
The suspect has been charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, facing a potential sentence of up to seven years in prison.
Investigative actions are ongoing under the supervision of the Odesa regional prosecutor's office.
