New Year Preparations in Odesa
In Odesa, preparations for the New Year festivities are in full swing. Yesterday, municipal workers began setting up the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.
This year's tree stands 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. At the top, it will feature a traditional Christmas star. This year, the main Christmas tree will be adorned with elements of traditional Ukrainian ornamentation and blue-yellow ribbons.
The official opening is scheduled for December 6 – St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, the main Christmas tree of Odesa will be unveiled, along with a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration. Guests can look forward to a concert by the Odesa Municipal Band of Wind Instruments named after O. Salik, as well as performances by talented children from local creative institutions. Celebratory events will also be held at various municipal venues, including the zoo,» said Ivan Liptuga, the director of the department.
Due to martial law and curfew, mass street celebrations for New Year's Eve are not planned.
