A Celebration of Sport: The Odesa Half Marathon
The «INDEPENDENCE HALF MARATHON» half marathon brought together over 600 participants from various regions of Ukraine and abroad.
The route showcased Odesa's iconic locations, including Primorsky Boulevard, Deribasivska, and the Sabaniev Bridge.
Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, welcomed the runners on Sports Day, expressing gratitude to the organizers and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for enabling such essential events.
He highlighted the importance of an active lifestyle in his life, stating:
«Those who are here are already winners!»
The event also featured veterans and individuals with mobility impairments as some of the first participants.
Advisor to the mayor, Oleksiy Morozov, noted the ongoing development of adaptive sports in the city.
The half marathon included distances such as:
- Children's distances - from 60 m to 1 km,
- Adult distances - 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km.
Today, the marathon united participants not only through sport but also through a noble cause - raising funds for prosthetics for patients at the Odesa Superhumans Center.
