Basketball Tournament in Odesa: Honoring Yosyp Keselman
On September 12-13, 2025, in Odesa, at the sports complex of the Specialized Children and Youth Sports School, the 30th basketball tournament honoring the esteemed Ukrainian coach Yosyp Keselman took place, involving girls born in 2012 and younger.
Five teams from southern Ukraine participated in the competitions. This year, the classic basketball tournament featured teams such as “Crazy Jellyfish,” “Furious Shrimps,” and “Swallows” from the Boris Litvak Sports School, SDYUSSHOR No. 4 from Mykolaiv, as well as a local team from the Children’s Basketball Club “YUG Basket.”
The champions of the tournament were the “Jellyfish” team from the Boris Litvak Sports School (coach – Yuliya Gladchenko).
The tournament continued on September 14 in a 3x3 format. In the Old Bazaar Square, the girls participated in the open 21st Cup of the Odesa Regional Basketball Federation, dedicated to Physical Culture and Sports Day, in the U-15 category.
In addition to the teams competing in the 5x5 format, opponents from Izmail, Tatarbunary, and Chornomorsk joined, bringing the total to 9 teams.
The victory in this tournament was celebrated by the girls from the Hot Wheels Italy team, who also represented the hosts of the tournament – the Boris Litvak Sports School.
The tournament was organized by the Charity Fund “Support and Development of Children’s and Women’s Basketball named after I.Ya. Keselman,” with support from the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Odesa City Council, the Odesa Regional Basketball Federation, the Odesa City Basketball Federation, the Boris Litvak Sports School, and the pharmaceutical company “InterChem.”
