A Dangerous Night: How Lives Were Saved During a Fire

A few nights ago, during an air raid alert, an enemy drone landed in the yard of a private house. A fire broke out, quickly spreading to an outbuilding located close to the residential house. At that moment, the sick homeowner was inside, unable to move by herself. Additionally, a gas cylinder was in the fire zone, posing a significant explosion risk.

The first responders were swiftly on site from the patrol police department.

«There was no time for doubt – we had to act immediately. My partner, Oleksandr Slyvinskyi, ensured the passage for rescuers and ambulances to the drone impact site, while I managed to enter the house through a window and opened the doors blocked by the blast wave for the medics. With a neighbor, we moved the gas cylinder away from the fire. Until the ambulance arrived, we kept the homeowner warm with blankets to prevent hypothermia,» said police officer Ruslan Bilyi.

The medics transported the woman to the hospital since staying at home was unsafe, and the firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of the police officers who were the first on the scene and the local residents, a tragedy was averted, and a life was saved.
