Enhancing Mental Health in Odesa: New Initiatives

On October 16, 2025, a workshop titled “Mental Health — A Key to Life” was held in Odesa. The event was organized by the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council in collaboration with the Odesa Region Family Medicine Association in honor of World Mental Health Day.

This year, over 35,000 services related to mental health and psychological support were provided in the city’s medical facilities, catering to adults, children, internally displaced citizens, and military personnel.

There are 16 psychological offices operating in the city. Additionally, two integrated response centers have been established based on Primary Health Care Centers in the Kyiv and Peresyp districts, where interdisciplinary teams including psychologists, social workers, and legal advisors provide comprehensive support to individuals in crisis.

A notable initiative is the Mental Health Center established at City Clinical Hospital No. 10, which offers specialized assistance, including psychological consultations and medical-psychiatric support.

Another Mental Health Center is set to open at Clinical Hospital No. 1 as part of a collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD), with renovation work currently underway at the Jewish Hospital building.

Psychological assistance in Odesa’s medical institutions is provided free of charge under the nationwide mental health program “How Are You?” for anyone in need.

The City Department of Health is also focusing on the mental well-being of healthcare workers, organizing burnout prevention training and providing opportunities for individual consultations and support groups.
