Celebrating Sign Language: Advocating for the Rights of the Deaf
Every year, the last Sunday of September marks the International Day of Deaf People, and September 23 is the International Day of Sign Languages.
In Odesa, various activities are held in honor of this occasion, continuing until September 30.
Today, on September 24, a festive event took place at the Odesa Cultural Center of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf, aiming to raise public awareness regarding the rights of individuals with hearing impairments.
Representatives from the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odesa City Council attended the event, offering greetings and presenting Honorary Certificates to active members of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf.
During the concert program, students from Odesa Special School No. 91 performed a variety of musical and dance acts, comedic sketches, and stand-up performances.
The event was organized and conducted by the Odesa Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf.
