New Partnership for Firefighting Along the Danube
On September 19, an important conference took place in Tulcea (Romania) to kick off the project «Enhancing Cross-Border Cooperation in Fire Safety along the Danube» (ROUA00095).
The Ukrainian delegation was led by Major General of Civil Protection Denis Platonov, head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
The delegation included specialists responsible for project implementation.
During the conference, the Ukrainian side presented planned activities under the project, including new equipment to be purchased: one specialized truck and two passenger vehicles.
This equipment is critically important for monitoring the situation in the Odesa region, particularly in Izmail, Reni, Kiliya, and Vilkove. In cases of emergencies occurring simultaneously in multiple settlements, the State Emergency Service must be able to respond quickly and deliver personnel and equipment to the affected areas. The acquisition of new vehicles will significantly enhance mobility and readiness for responding to fires in hard-to-reach areas near the Romanian border.
Also attending the conference were representatives of the «Delta» Emergency Inspectorate from Tulcea County, the main partner of this project.
The project «Enhancing Cross-Border Cooperation in Fire Safety along the Danube» (ROUA00095) aims to improve fire response effectiveness in the border regions of Ukraine and Romania. Joint initiatives will strengthen the technical capabilities of rescue units, promote experience sharing, and ensure coordinated actions during emergency response. This conference marked an important step in developing cross-border cooperation and enhancing security for communities in both countries.
