Award Ceremony for the 'Time of Great Expectations' Contest
On September 17, 2025, the award ceremony for the winners and participants of the First Municipal Annual Contest 'Time of Great Expectations' was held at Library No. 2 in Odesa. This contest was established to encourage creative individuals in various fields of art and literature, to revive interest in the local region, its history and present, and to promote the ideas of kindness and tolerance, an initiative of the Executive Committee of the Odessa City Council.
A total of 31 works were submitted for the contest, including books, magazines, and paintings.
In the 'Prose' category, the award went to the well-known Odesa writer Alexander Surilov, a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, for his book 'The Business Odesa's Automotive Debut', which honors the memory of the enthusiasts who pioneered the automotive movement in Odessa.
The award in the 'Poetry' category was given to talented poet Roman Lyubarsky from Kropyvnytskyi for his poetry collection 'Lilac Paradise'. R. Lyubarsky is a member of the National Union of Journalists and the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, a laureate of several national and international literary contests, and has published seven poetry and three prose books.
In the 'Local Studies' category, the award was granted to journalist Felix Kohrikht for his unique articles on the history of Odesa.
The 'Maritime Studies' category recognized writer Anton Sanchanko for his anthology 'Matelot', which includes the best stories from the Ukrainian maritime prose competition.
Other participants also received acknowledgments. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by musical performances from students of art schools.
