The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that a meeting will take place in Ankara to discuss security matters in the region following a potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

The meeting will occur at the naval forces headquarters, with military representatives from foreign nations in attendance. The agenda will address naval planning to support a peaceful environment in the Black Sea.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense did not specify which countries would participate but emphasized that no Russian officials would be present.

Earlier reports from Turkish media suggested that a meeting in Ankara would involve both Ukrainian and Russian representatives.

Background:

Following negotiations in Saudi Arabia from March 23-25, the US, Russia, and Ukraine agreed to discuss securing maritime navigation in the Black Sea.

However, Russia subsequently issued a list of demands, including the easing of several sanctions on the agricultural sector. The US stated they would consider these demands, while Europe dismissed any possibility of sanction relief.
