Simplifying Access to Open Data

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution aimed at simplifying access to open data by establishing a unified online portal.

This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

«Open data refers to information that government bodies collect, store, and make available to the public in a convenient digital format, excluding personal or confidential information. This may include data on budgets, transportation, education, healthcare, or business registries. From now on, the most significant data of public value will be organized in an updated unified list,» the statement reads.

It is emphasized that this will allow citizens, businesses, and NGOs to find the necessary information more quickly and utilize it for analytics, service creation, or oversight of government actions.

The updated regulations will also assist government agencies in working more effectively with data. They will receive clear guidelines on uploading information to the Unified Open Data Portal. This will make data more accessible to the public while reducing the potential for abuses by officials.

As previously reported, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, YouControl, and the NGO «Association of Open Data» (AOD) signed a tri-party memorandum on cooperation in the fields of statistics, analytics, and digitalization.
