New Opportunities for Agricultural Business in Ukraine
An important meeting took place with the coordinator of the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) in Bari, Mr. Luigi Cavestro.
The main topic was the discussion of the launch of the project «Support Program for the Restoration of Ukraine's Agri-Food Sector Economic Potential. Pro.UKR», which will be implemented in the Odessa region with the support of AICS and CIHEAM.
The project has been developed by the Italian side in collaboration with specialists from the Odessa region and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, covering the Berezivka, Rozdilna, and Odessa districts.
The project's primary goal is to support small and medium-sized agribusinesses, strengthen the position of Ukrainian agri-food products in international markets through technological support and improve their quality in line with European standards, and develop animal husbandry. The project also includes support for the development of irrigation systems in the Odessa region.
The core idea of the project is to provide training and establish cooperatives for processing agricultural products from small farms, as well as to establish stable connections between Ukrainian and Italian markets.
As part of the joint project, CIHEAM plans to invest over 9 million euros in the agricultural industry of Odessa.
It is worth noting that the Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, signed an agreement with the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies in Bari (CIHEAM) at the end of March to launch the mentioned project.
The «Pro.UKR» project is part of broader efforts by Italy to support the recovery of Ukraine and the Odessa region, aiming to enhance the economic and social resilience of the country in the current challenging conditions.
