Current Status of Public Wells in Odesa

The municipal enterprise «Service Center» manages 16 public wells located throughout Odesa. The depth of their wells ranges from 111 to 149 meters.

On average, each well provides between 8 and 12 cubic meters of water per shift (from 08:00 to 20:00). The purified water from the wells is available to everyone.

Monthly tests of the water from the public wells are conducted to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.

On November 17, 2024, due to massive attacks on the energy sector, water and electricity supplies were halted in Odesa. This resulted in a surge of visitors to the public wells. On November 17 and 18, approximately 13,000 and 12,000 people visited the wells, respectively.

Under normal conditions, about 10,000 visitors use the city’s 14 public wells daily. Each well is equipped with an alternative power source in case of electricity outages.

Wells located in Mechnikov Square and on Yaroslav the Wise Ave. are currently closed for major repairs.
