New Measures to Protect the Environment Near the Khadjibey Estuary
New traffic signs stating «No Stopping» will be placed along the bypass road near the Khadjibey Estuary.
This decision has been made to eliminate the formation of illegal landfills in the water protection area, according to the eco-inspection.
State inspectors have repeatedly documented cases of littering along the bypass road by the Khadjibey Estuary. Due to frequent short stops by heavy and passenger vehicles, the area has gradually turned into a dump.
The eco-inspection has repeatedly appealed to the Odesa City Council, demanding that the area be brought to an appropriate sanitary condition and preventing further pollution of the water protection zone.
As a temporary measure, the Peresyp District Administration proposed to install traffic signs 3.34 «No Stopping» in the problem area. The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Odesa region has already issued relevant instructions, and the new signs will appear on site soon.
Despite this, ecologists emphasize that as long as the level of ecological awareness among certain citizens remains low, such administrative measures are the only effective way to prevent the formation of new landfills near the estuary.
