Cultural Ties Between Odesa and Bristol

On October 7, an online seminar titled «Development of cultural and tourist ties between Bristol (Western England) and Odesa (Ukraine)» took place, organized with the support of Odessa's city council advisor, Tetiana Markova. This event marked a significant step towards long-term collaboration between two creative cities recognized by UNESCO.

«The United Kingdom is not just a partner; it is a true friend of Ukraine, supporting us during tough times. Odesa is a city that has always been open to the world, and we are excited to begin active engagement with the Western England region and the city of Bristol. We are united by creativity, cultural richness, and a shared desire to shape the future together,» stated Odessa's Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Paul Goggin, Bristol's city council advisor, shared his impressions from his visit to Odesa, calling it «a city with unique architecture, genuine people, and unforgettable flavors.»

Participants of the seminar included representatives from city councils of both countries, cultural institutions, tourism organizations, film industry, and festivals.

Key priorities include creating joint projects, festivals, involving Odesa's artists in Bristol events, exchange programs for students and young creatives, collaboration with the Visit West tourism platform, and restoration of historical sites in Odessa damaged during the war.

The British side confirmed its readiness for humanitarian aid and economic cooperation.
