Grokipedia Launch: Elon Musk's New Challenge to Wikipedia
Elon Musk, the wealthiest person in the world, has announced that the beta version of Grokipedia will launch in two weeks, positioning it as a competitor to Wikipedia. He shared this update on social media platform X.
«The early beta version 0.1 of Grokipedia will be released in 14 days», - Musk stated late Sunday, October 5.
According to NDTV, Grokipedia is being developed by xAI, one of Musk's companies and the creator of the AI chatbot Grok.
Musk made this announcement by retweeting a post from user @amXFreeze, which referred to Grokipedia as «the largest and most accurate knowledge source in the world for both humans and artificial intelligence, unrestricted in its use».
«Grok employs vast computational resources for logical deduction, reviewing sources like Wikipedia and asking itself: what is true, partially true, false, or what is missing», - the tweet from @amXFreeze read.
Musk has repeatedly criticized Wikipedia's funding issues and editorial approach.
His proposal to use artificial intelligence for «navigating to the truth» has sparked mixed reactions on social media X.
Some users expressed support for the new competitor to Wikipedia, while others warned that Grok's training data could lead to new biases.
It is worth noting that in July, Musk's company xAI unveiled a new AI model, Grok 4, and announced a new $300 monthly subscription for the AI service.
