Memorial for Fallen Soldiers Underway in Odesa
In Odesa, efforts are ongoing to establish a memorial for fallen soldiers at one of the city's cemeteries.
During a recent meeting with the families of fallen heroes and veteran organizations, three types of gravestones were selected, each available in two variations.
Samples of materials intended for their construction, such as granite and sandstone, were also presented. A broad discussion with the families of servicemen is forthcoming.
“The mayor's position is clear: the families of fallen heroes have the key voice in this process - they will determine through voting which option best meets their expectations and memories of their loved ones,” emphasized Pavel Vugelman, the deputy mayor of Odesa.
In addition to the memorial topic, social issues regarding support for the families of the fallen were discussed at the meeting.
They also talked about the program of events for Defender's Day, which will be celebrated on October 1.
Among the planned activities are memorial ceremonies, meetings with veterans, educational initiatives, and cultural events aimed at uniting the community around memory, gratitude, and shared responsibility.
