New Support for Law Enforcement Amidst War

Discussion of new challenges for law enforcement during military conflicts and international support.

The representative of the EUAM in Odesa, Anders Johansen, along with his colleagues, expressed respect for local law enforcement and reaffirmed their support in the fight against Russian aggression. 

The police, led by Ivan Zhuk, the head of the National Police in the Odesa region, shared information about the challenges they face today. They discussed crimes committed by the enemy, ensuring the safety of civilians, and combating transnational crime, including illegal drug and arms trafficking. 

During the discussion, emphasis was placed on the modernization and strengthening of police resources needed to fulfill their duties. 

European partners highlighted the importance of supporting the police in Odesa under these challenging conditions and expressed their readiness to provide assistance to enhance their effectiveness. Specifically, they discussed the transfer of experiences from European countries and professional equipment.

The police chief thanked the Mission representatives for their ongoing cooperation and support.
