Brave Teens: How Youth in Odesa Resist Threats
Young in age but wise in actions: police in Odesa have recognized teenagers who resisted recruitment attempts from Russian intelligence. They not only declined to cooperate with the aggressor but also informed adults about the dangerous offers. Law enforcement applauded the youth for their civic awareness.
Four boys and a girl, aged 14 to 17, received criminal proposals from the aggressor's intelligence services via messaging apps. They were offered money to take photos of military sites, set fire to relay cabinets, and military and police vehicles.
The teenagers immediately reported this to the police. Thanks to their principled refusal to cooperate, several dangerous crimes were prevented.
“These children demonstrated maturity and responsibility, setting an example of true patriotism. They did not succumb to enemy promises, turned down 'easy money,' and chose the side of truth. They acted as conscious citizens of their country. We sincerely thank them and urge everyone not to remain silent about similar cases,” noted the head of the Juvenile Prevention Department of the National Police in Odesa, Victoria Chalova.
Law enforcement also expressed gratitude to the parents for raising such children and presented the teens with certificates and gifts.
Their actions serve as an inspiring example for their peers and a reminder that even at a young age, one can be a conscious citizen who cares about their country's safety.
The police continue their educational efforts among the youth, explaining the dangers of recruitment and cybersecurity rules. They also encourage everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious contacts or offers. Every act of concern is a contribution to our collective victory.
