New Social Support Initiative in Ukraine
Applications for the new social support scheme can be submitted via the «Diia» app.
This was announced by Ukraine's Prime Minister, Julia Svyrydenko, via Telegram.
She emphasized that it is crucial for the government to ensure that every family in Ukraine can receive financial aid without unnecessary complications.
«We are changing our approach: instead of five different payments, we are implementing a basic social assistance program. This will facilitate quicker access to support for families facing difficult life circumstances, including low-income families, single mothers, and children whose parents evade alimony payments,» Svyrydenko stated.
Applications for this assistance can be made online in «Diia». «The process is very simple: just a few steps in the app, and you will receive a calculation of your monthly payment. If everything is satisfactory, you can submit your application without needing to gather a lot of paperwork,» she added.
Svyrydenko also noted that the amount of assistance will be calculated individually. The amount is tied to a basic figure that determines the minimum income per person in the family, which currently stands at 4,500 UAH.
This pilot project is set to last for two years, and the government is already working to make it permanent. «We have approved and submitted the relevant draft law to parliament,» the Prime Minister added, expressing gratitude to international partners who are helping to make social services more accessible.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft law proposing to transform state social assistance for low-income families into basic social assistance starting January 1, 2026, and to consolidate various types of state support.
