Agricultural Triumph in Odesa: New Harvest Records
Despite drought and shelling, Odesa's farmers successfully completed the harvest and achieved a record yield.
This was announced by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper.
"Farmers in Odesa are standing strong. Our region's agricultural producers have completed the collection of early grains and legumes, harvesting over 3.4 million tons. Wheat yielded 2.37 million tons, barley - 859 thousand tons, and rapeseed - 520 thousand tons," he wrote on Telegram.
This is truly a feat of our farmers under extremely difficult circumstances, Kiper emphasized.
"A snowless winter, a dry spring, and a drought-stricken start to summer have led to a critical lack of moisture in the soil. Periodic enemy rocket and drone strikes create additional risks and complicate logistics," he explained.
"Despite this, Odesa remains the granary of Ukraine. Our farmers are already preparing for the new season. A total of 27 thousand hectares of winter rapeseed have been sown," Kiper added.
