New Platform for Missing Persons in Ukraine
A new information platform dedicated to missing persons under special circumstances has been unveiled in the capital of Ukraine.
This platform was introduced at a press conference by its founders from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The platform acts as an official portal developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to coordinate the search for individuals who have gone missing under particular circumstances and to support their families.
«We have gathered all necessary information that could be useful for the relatives of missing persons. Our aim is to create an informational bridge between the state agencies conducting the search and the families seeking information. We strive to establish a strong connection with people so that they feel they are not alone and that the relevant authorities are doing everything possible to find their loved ones,» emphasized Maryana Reva, Director of the Communication Department at the Ministry.
The platform includes guidelines on how to initiate a search, file a report, submit DNA samples for identification, obtain extracts from the Unified Register of Missing Persons, and learn about rights and social guarantees.
«In every regional police department, we have established specialized centers for the search of missing persons. This platform will greatly facilitate families' awareness of these centers' operations and help them quickly find investigators, track criminal proceedings, and understand how to provide biological samples for matching,» shared Kristina Podyryako, head of the Investigation Organization Department of the National Police.
The platform provides comprehensive information on who is involved in the search for missing persons, where to seek help, and how to interact with law enforcement and judicial experts.
«This is a dynamic system that aims to thoroughly explain the roles of different agencies and provide current links. We have algorithms and developments in each agency dealing with missing persons. We also show where a family representative can turn when addressing specific issues to get familiar with all functions and the latest news regarding ongoing searches,» stated Arthur Dobroserdov, the authorized representative for missing persons.
The platform is intended to serve as a coordination center for the search of missing persons and support their families, uniting the efforts of various government agencies and NGOs.
The platform is available online on the Ministry's web portal.
A Unified Registry for the identification of bodies may begin operations in Ukraine as early as this year.
