Protecting Kuyalnik National Park: New Safety Measures
Reserved areas need protection
The Kuyalnik National Park has begun imposing fines on drivers entering protected areas. This is not just a formal restriction: according to law No. 4188-IX, the use of cars, ATVs, motorcycles, and other vehicles (except for service vehicles) is prohibited in the nature reserve fund.
The park covers about 10,800 hectares, with approximately 3,500 hectares designated as reserved zones. These areas are primarily remote and hard to access. Strict environmental protection measures apply only in these zones, while other areas with limited access have partial restrictions.
Transport restrictions
- Entry of cars, ATVs, and motorcycles is prohibited in areas where it is not allowed by law.
- Organizing competitions and mass events with access to protected areas is prohibited.
- Even test drives are monitored, as happened with a car dealership that had to change its location after discussions with the administration.
Why is this important?
Such activities lead to soil compaction, destruction of vegetation, and stress to wildlife. Lizards and snakes die on the slopes of the estuary under the wheels of vehicles, including species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
What are the fines?
- 153–408 UAH — for individuals;
- 255–510 UAH — for officials;
Compensation for environmental damage:
- motorcycle — 4020.80 UAH;
- car — 6428.80 UAH;
- truck — 8848.00 UAH.
Who monitors compliance?
Violations are tracked by the state protection service of the national park, environmental inspection, and police. Event organizers are monitored on social media, attempting to negotiate first. For repeated violations, fines and even vehicle confiscation are imposed.
Kuyalnik is not a racetrack
The Kuyalnik National Park is a natural area that requires protection. If destruction is not halted now, the region will lose its unique ecosystems and the healing properties of the estuary. Everyone who wants to keep Kuyalnik alive must start with responsibility.
