Young Athletes Showcase Talents in Odessa
Young athletes from Odessa are showcasing their skills at the 'National School Leagues'.
The ceremonial opening of the III (city) stage of the 'National School Leagues' took place at Odessa Lyceum No. 84.
This year, over 260 school teams will participate in various sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, sports orienteering, rugby, handball, cheerleading, athletics, and chess.
Last year, there were 119 teams, indicating a growing enthusiasm among Odessa students.
“Sports strengthen not just the body but also the spirit. Engaging students in sports lays the foundation for their future,” emphasized Odessa's mayor, Gennady Trukhanov.
The mayor also reminded that Odessa is one of the first cities to implement the 'Path of Champions' project aimed at nurturing Olympic champions from school.
The event was part of a unified physical education lesson titled 'Odessa's Education on a Sports Wave', organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council.
