Surge in Gambling Addiction in Ukraine: Latest Statistics

In the past year, there has been a notable rise in the number of individuals suffering from gambling addiction in Ukraine. Currently, the gambling registry lists 12,807 Ukrainians.

This information is reported by "Opendatabot".

Over the last year, the registry has added 9,389 individuals, while 1,496 have been removed due to the expiration of their restrictions.

According to "Opendatabot", since the registry's inception, a total of 14,979 individuals have been registered, with 2,172 already removed.

It is noted that 99% of all entries in the registry are voluntary applications. Individuals self-restrict themselves to limit access to gambling establishments and participation in betting for a period ranging from six months to three years.

Conversely, only 1% are individuals whose access has been restricted by a decision from KRAIL. Since the registry's establishment, there have been 169 such decisions, almost all occurring last year.

Last year, an average of 780 individuals were added to the registry each month – this is 2.8 times more than in 2023, when the monthly average was about 280. The highest number of self-restriction applications was in April with 1,041, while the lowest was in June with 524.

In the first two months of 2025, 1,719 individuals have already been registered, averaging 860 per month – a 10% increase compared to 2024.

"Opendatabot" emphasized that currently, there is no clear statistic regarding the actual number of citizens with gambling addiction in Ukraine, and the figures from the registry do not reflect the full picture, particularly concerning individuals playing in online casinos.
