Updates on State Final Certification for 9th Graders

In 2028, a comprehensive State Final Certification is planned for 9th graders, covering two main areas: language-literature and mathematics. The full implementation of the DPA-9 system will not occur before 2029.
This information was provided by the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment.
In the fall of 2026, Ukraine will conduct a trial of various tools and procedures for the DPA at the 9th grade level, including language-literature (state language) and mathematics education.
Around 2000 students from 10th grades will be involved in the trial from schools implementing the New Ukrainian School educational model.
The continuation of the DPA-9 pilot is also planned for 2027.
According to UCQEA, improved tools for assessing student achievements in language-literature and mathematics will be tested, including using a special educational platform currently being developed by IT specialists.
Additionally, a primary trial of tools from other educational areas—civic, historical, natural sciences, computer science, and foreign languages—is anticipated for 2027.
It is likely that in 2028, the DPA-9 will be fully launched in two areas: language-literature (state language) and mathematics, while additional trials for other subjects will continue.
Thus, a comprehensive implementation of the DPA-9 system will not be possible before 2029, as stated by UCQEA.
We remind you that from 2027, fourth-grade students in Ukrainian schools will undergo the state final certification (DPA) in the form of external independent assessment.
