Free Meals for Schoolchildren in Odesa: New Developments
In Odesa, primary school students will be guaranteed meals until the end of the academic year.
Odesa City Council members voted to allocate an additional 20 million hryvnias from the city budget.
The funding for meals for primary school students comes from state subsidies and local budgets – 70% and 30% respectively.
Currently, the subsidy funds have been exhausted, and no further allocations are planned at this time.
“I believe it is incorrect to stop meals in the middle of the academic year. I am pleased that most of you share this sentiment. This decision will ensure meals for this academic year regardless of the availability of state subsidies,” said Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov.
