Changes in the Academic Calendar: School Holidays 2025
Recently, information surfaced on social media and news outlets regarding a supposed reduction of school holidays in 2025.
However, the Ministry of Education and Science stated that these reports are "false" and clarified that the duration of the academic year is determined by each school individually.
The ministry acknowledged that according to the Cabinet's resolution, the academic year runs from September 2, 2024, to June 30, 2025. Nevertheless, these dates are merely guidelines and not mandatory.
"These dates, along with the academic year structure, holiday timings, etc., are not set by the government but rather by the schools themselves. This is not a new practice; such flexibility has been allowed by current legislation for many years, even before the full-scale war began," they added.
In fact, schools have the autonomy to decide when to conclude the academic year for their students.
In making this decision, the teaching staff considers:
- the overall educational workload;
- the safety situation in the region;
- individual student needs;
- teacher readiness.
