Unveiling the Invisible: New Exhibition by Gennady Kim
“Unveiling the Invisible,” art therapy, and the awakening of spring: a new exhibition by Gennady Kim at the Bleschunov House.
At the exhibition of renowned artist and educator Gennady Kim, titled “Unveiling the Invisible,” visitors will see new works created over the past two years. During this time, the artist has also developed his own art therapy program and will host creative meetings for anyone interested, offering them a chance to work with their inner state through color.
Gennady Kim employs the technique of pointillism, a stylistic movement characterized by the optical blending of colors directly on the viewer's retina, allowing for the creation of incredibly complex color effects that are impossible to reproduce with mechanical paint mixtures.
The curator of the exhibition, artist Maria Apryatova, emphasizes Kim’s mastery of this technique: “The artist conveys the subtlest nuances of color relationships that can only be observed in a natural environment, and importantly, he can even express the shades of sacred space, making Kim a unique guide into the invisible mysterious world.”
In his new compositions, the artist employs acrylic paint for the first time, which enhances the contrast of his works. The main idea of his painting is to convey the invisible world through visible means of visual art.
“Such an approach allows us to feel thoughts and ideas through color and composition. After all, a painting is a reflection of the unknown — an expression through visible images of what is difficult to explain in words. These principles have formed the basis for art therapy, which enables us to feel and resolve spiritual and emotional issues of our inner world through color,” says Gennady Kim.
The exhibition will be presented at the Odessa Museum of Personal Collections named after O.V. Bleschunov from March 20 to April 15, 2025.
Visiting hours: Thursday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
