New Year Celebrations in Odesa: Preparations Underway
Odesa is bustling with preparations for the festive season. Recently, the city services began setting up the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.
This year's tree stands at 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. The top will be adorned with a traditional Christmas star. The tree will showcase elements of Ukrainian ornamentation and blue and yellow ribbons.
The grand opening is scheduled for December 6, coinciding with St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, we will hold the opening of the main Christmas tree and a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture. Guests can look forward to performances by the Odesa Municipal Brass Band and talented children from local arts institutions. Festive events will continue throughout the New Year and Christmas season at various municipal venues, including the zoo», - stated Ivan Liptuga, the head of the Department of Culture.
Due to martial law and curfew, mass street celebrations on New Year's Eve are not planned.
