Restoration of Architectural Heritage in Odesa
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting focused on the restoration of damaged architectural heritage sites in the UNESCO zone and engaged with their residents.
Recently, a UNESCO mission visited Odesa to document the aftermath of the Russian assault on World Heritage sites.
Currently, emergency measures are being implemented to restore the integrity of the roof coverings, except for the most severely damaged sections where the upper floors have been nearly destroyed.
In these areas, structural damages are being assessed. More extensive work is needed to address these issues, which requires approval from cultural heritage authorities.
During a meeting with Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development Vasyl Shkurakov, the mayor raised concerns about legislative gaps that hinder residents of heritage buildings from receiving compensation under the eRecovery program.
