Arrest of Kyiv Resident for Selling Humanitarian Vehicles
In Odesa, law enforcement detained a man from Kyiv for selling vehicles meant for humanitarian aid. He managed to sell three cars that were imported into Ukraine for military and charitable purposes. The suspect has been charged and a preventive measure has been chosen. He faces up to seven years in prison with asset confiscation.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
Authorities explained that the 43-year-old man from the capital organized the importation of vehicles into Ukraine under the guise of assisting military units and charitable organizations. He later sold these humanitarian vehicles through online services.
During investigative actions, law enforcement caught the perpetrator "in the act" in Odesa, where he met with a client and sold an Audi and two Mitsubishis for $16,100. As evidence, investigators seized the illegally obtained money, sold vehicles, and other items relevant to the case.
"The police detained the offender under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged him with the sale of humanitarian aid items for profit during martial law. This crime is classified under part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and is punishable by imprisonment of up to seven years, with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years and asset confiscation," the statement said.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail of 605,000 hryvnias. The full circle of individuals involved in this crime is being established. The investigation is ongoing.
