Identification of Ukrainian Heroes' Remains May Last Up to 14 Months

The identification of approximately 6,000 remains of fallen Ukrainian heroes, handed over by the Russian side, may take up to 14 months.

This information was shared by Ukraine's Interior Minister Igor Klymenko during a national telethon.

The total number of remains transferred by the Russian side is 6,060.

“I can only provide a rough estimate of the situation, as the analysis is still ongoing – determining the condition of the remains and how many are actually in the packages sent by the Russian side. However, according to our specialists' preliminary estimates, identifying these approximately 6,000 remains will require at least 13-14 months,” said Igor Klymenko.

He also emphasized that this timeframe is the minimum required for complete identification of all repatriated remains.

To expedite this complex and crucial task, all relevant services – forensic examination, expert units, and investigators – are working in three shifts.
