New Season of the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Championship
Recently, the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Championship for the 2025/2026 season kicked off. This year, five teams are competing, including two from the capital. The list of participants is as follows:
- HK «Kremenchuk» (Kremenchuk, Poltava region)
- HK «Sokil» (Kyiv)
- HK «Kryzhynka-Capitalz» (Kyiv)
- HK «Storm» (Odesa)
- HK «Odeshchyna» (Odesa)
There are some noteworthy changes this season. Unfortunately, the Kherson team «Dnipr» will not be participating, but a new team, HK «Odeshchyna», has emerged. An interesting situation has arisen with the Kyiv vice-champion — the club «Kyiv Capitalz». With the permission of the UHF, the club has entered its first team into the Baltic Hockey League (an international league uniting clubs from Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and now Ukraine). In the Ukrainian Championship, the farm team «Kryzhynka-Capitalz» remains, consisting of young players and those who do not make it to the first team.
Thus, Kyiv's «Sokil» played its first match against Odesa's «Storm» and achieved a comeback victory, having trailed by two goals during the game.
«SOKIL» — «STORM» — 3:2 (0:1, 1:1, 2:0)
«KREMENCHUK» — «KRYZHYNKA-CAPITALZ» — 6:1 (4:0; 0:1; 2:0)
«Kryzhynka-Capitalz» will play its next match on Wednesday, October 15, against «Storm». The «Sokil» team will face «Odeshchyna» the following day.
