Increase in Casualties from Russian Missile Attack on Odesa

The number of casualties from the missile strike on Odesa has increased. Another victim has died in the hospital, bringing the total death toll to three.

"The casualty count from yesterday's Russian attack on Odesa has unfortunately risen. A 41-year-old man has died in the hospital from his injuries. My heartfelt condolences to the family," — stated Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

It is noted that on May 23, around 14:15, Russian armed forces struck the port infrastructure of Odesa, reportedly using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles.

Initially, a 40-year-old employee of a private cargo handling company was reported dead at the scene. Later, a 71-year-old man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, raising the death toll to three following the passing of the 41-year-old victim.

The Odesa regional prosecutor's office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the war crime that caused loss of life. Law enforcement qualifies the incident as a violation of the laws and customs of war.

This marks yet another Russian strike on the civilian infrastructure of Odesa, resulting in human casualties. The occupiers continue their terror against the peaceful population of Ukraine.
