Invictus Games: A New Chapter of Resilience

Tonight at 11:00 PM, the first-ever winter hybrid Invictus Games will kick off in Whistler and Vancouver, Canada. The event will run until February 16.

Introducing another participant from Odesa.
Illya Pylypenko, a sailor in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a veteran. He sustained injuries in September 2022 due to a tank explosion from a mine near the village of Bilohirka in the Kherson region.

«I am currently developing the veteran movement in Odesa. I’m enjoying life. I swim in the sea. I’ve started to appreciate little things. Sometimes I feel like a child. After training, I enter the sea with such joy that it’s comparable to being able to wash after a week in a tank», – shares Illya Pylypenko.

At the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler - 2025, our compatriot will compete in the following events: wheelchair basketball, 100-meter run, 400-meter run, 50-meter freestyle swimming, 50-meter breaststroke swimming, and 100-meter freestyle swimming.
