Ukrainian Swimmer Shines at World Junior Championships
From August 19 to 24, 2025, the 10th World Junior Swimming Championships took place in Otopeni, Romania.
Over 600 athletes from more than 80 countries participated in the events.
Nikita Sheremet, a representative from the Odessa Specialized Children's and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve «Dynamo», competed for the Ukrainian national team.
In the semifinal heat of the 50m freestyle, the Odessa swimmer secured victory, setting a new national junior record of 21.75 seconds, matching the world junior record.
Nikita also triumphed in the final heat, becoming the world champion in the 50 meters freestyle with a time of 21.99 seconds, outpacing competitors from Great Britain and Italy.
The athlete was trained by coaches Alla Tymofeeva and Oleksandra Kurbanova.
