Kostyuk Exits Tournament in Berlin

Marta Kostyuk (26) was unable to advance to the second round of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin, Germany. In her opening match, she lost to American Emma Navarro (9).

The match lasted 1 hour and 18 minutes and ended with a score of 2:6, 3:6.

The match began poorly for Kostyuk as Navarro won the first four games and easily took the first set.

The start of the second set mirrored the first one. The American led 4:1, but Kostyuk managed to cut the deficit to a minimum. At 3:4 on her serve, she had a 40:15 lead but couldn’t hold onto it. Ultimately, it was a deserved defeat.

During the match, Kostyuk served two aces, made three double faults, and achieved two breaks. Her opponent did not serve any aces, committed two faults, and made six breaks.
