New Frontiers in Defense Technology: Odd Systems and Terma Group Partnership
The Ukrainian firm Odd Systems has announced a strategic partnership with the Danish defense conglomerate Terma Group to collaboratively develop an affordable AI-based drone interceptor.
The press release highlighted that the main challenge for drone interceptors lies in the integration of detection, tracking, and interception of hostile UAVs using another autonomous system.
Moreover, the types of Russian drones that need countering vary significantly, from FPV and tactical copters like the Mavic to fixed-wing operational drones like Zala and long-range strike drones like Shahed.
"Terma and Odd Systems will combine their existing solutions while developing a comprehensive product suite to counter these and other aerial threats," noted Odd Systems.
Odd Systems is a defense technology company headquartered in Kyiv, specializing in the design and production of thermal imaging cameras and FPV drones.
It supplies the FPV airborne interceptor platform Horskaya-12, as well as strike FPV platforms "Stus-7" and "Lupinis-10". The company also develops and manufactures thermal imaging cameras for FPV drones Kurbas-256 and Kurbas-640 in Ukraine.
Terma A/S is the largest Danish manufacturer of defense and aerospace products for both civilian and military applications, focusing on defense and security. The company offers radar systems, avionics, and space electronics, and is noted as a supplier of components for the F-35.
Recently, Arsen Zhumadilov, the director of the Defense Procurement Agency, stated that the agency has contracted for tens of thousands of drone interceptors.
