OdesaFest: A Cultural Celebration in Berlin

On September 10, Odesaplatz in Lichtenberg hosted OdesaFest — a cultural event that brought together Ukrainians and Berlin residents around the theme of Odesa.

The festival kicked off with a photo exhibition showcasing the German roots of our city, complemented by a musical program featuring jazz performances, Ukrainian songs, dance acts, and open-air painting. This event served as a reminder of Odesa's multicultural history and European essence.

The head of Lichtenberg, Martin Schäfer, expressed personal support for the festival, emphasizing the importance of cultural solidarity with Ukraine and especially Odesa, which symbolizes openness, freedom, and international coexistence.

«Odesa is a city where European influence is deeply rooted. We must preserve this uniqueness and share it with the world», said the event's initiator, Angelika Soldatenko.

During the festival, funds were also raised for turnstiles for Ukrainian paramedics, exemplifying how culture can be a tool for support and unity.

The event was part of the celebrations for Odessa City Day, under the patronage of Lichtenberg's mayor Martin Schäfer and supported by Berlin parliament member Liliya Usik. The organizer of Odesa Fest is Odesa Angelika Soldatenko.
