Blood Donation Campaign: Honoring University’s 160th Anniversary
To commemorate the 160th anniversary of Odessa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov, a blood donation campaign entitled “Become a Donor! Save a Life!” is being organized with the involvement of the administration, workers' union, student council, and the Department of Physiology.
This event is part of the university project “HEALTH, MOVEMENT, EDUCATION — the university lives and acts”!
“The goal of the campaign is to gather 160 donors for our university’s 160th anniversary, uniting the university community to aid military personnel and those in need of assistance,” said the initiator of the campaign, Vadim Penov, associate professor of the Department of Physiology, Health and Safety, and head of the university's workers' union.
The blood collection will take place on the university premises with the participation of medical staff from the Odessa Regional Blood Transfusion Station.
The campaign began at the university's branch in Shampansky Lane and will continue next week in the library and other buildings.
Students, faculty, and staff enthusiastically participated in donating blood. In the first two days of the campaign, over 70 individuals donated blood. Each participant received a reward from the “Donor Odessa” project — a sticker featuring the mascot cat Sonya.
Additionally, within the “Donor Odessa” project, informative discussions were held on common blood donation questions for students of the Professional College and members of the Scientific Council of the Biological Faculty of ONU named after I.I. Mechnikov.
Promotional events for blood donation at Mechnikov University were held as part of the city charity project “Weeks of Good Deeds”.
