Establishment of Cyber Forces in the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Ukrainian Parliament has approved in the first reading a draft law aimed at establishing Cyber Forces within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, garnering support from 255 deputies.
Draft law No. 12349 proposes the creation of Cyber Forces as a military body capable of involving civilian components (cyber reservists) when necessary.
The draft law aims to define the legal status and foundations for the activities of Cyber Forces, responsible for Ukraine's cyber defense, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in cyberspace.
The Cyber Forces will organize periodic training for cyber reservists to build a resilient intellectual potential among motivated citizens of Ukraine.
The status of a cyber reservist does not require mandatory military designation, can be periodic and temporary, based on specific skills and personal motivation.
The primary tasks of the Cyber Forces will include enhancing and effectively applying cyber deterrence capabilities, securing military advantages for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and weakening the adversary through operations in the electromagnetic spectrum and cyberspace.
