Details: Zelensky's office confirmed that the meeting took place but did not provide any specifics. According to the president's office, the meeting lasted for 15 minutes.
This meeting, the first after a tense exchange in the Oval Office in Washington in February, occurred at a critical time in negotiations aimed at ending hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.
"President Trump and President Zelensky met today privately and had a very productive discussion. More details about the meeting will be available later," said Steven Chung, White House Communications Director.
Trump, who urges both sides to reach a ceasefire agreement, stated on Friday that there were productive talks between his envoy and the Russian leadership, calling for a high-level meeting between Kyiv and Moscow to finalize an agreement.
Earlier, media reported that the Trump administration provided Ukraine in Paris with a one-page document, presented as a "final proposal" for peaceful resolution. Among other things, the U.S. is willing to recognize Russia's control over Crimea and ease sanctions against Moscow.
President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned on April 24 that the U.S. offered its strategy regarding Ukrainian territories during negotiations in London, but he stated that after the U.S. proposal, "another paper appeared."
