Zelensky Calls for Lasting Peace Instead of Temporary Ceasefire
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Russian leader Vladimir Putin's statement about a "ceasefire" from May 8 to May 10, asserting that Ukraine requires not a temporary "ceasefire" for a parade in Moscow, but a complete and immediate cessation of hostilities for at least 30 days.

Details: In his address, the president emphasized that Ukraine never desired this war and is ready to collaborate with all international partners to achieve peace and ensure security. However, Russia continuously rejects such initiatives and manipulates the global community, attempting to deceive, particularly the United States.
According to the president, the ceasefire should not be temporary and for Russia's convenience, but immediate, complete, and unconditional, for at least 30 days.
Direct quote: "We are witnessing yet another attempt at manipulation: for some reason, everyone is expected to wait until May 8 to then cease fire, to provide Putin with quiet during the parade.
We value human lives, not parades. That is why we believe – the world believes – there is no reason to wait until May 8. The fire must be stopped not for a few days to then resume killing. An immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire – for at least 30 days, to ensure it is guaranteed and reliable – is what can provide the basis for real diplomacy."
