New Fishing Regulations for Herring in Odesa Region
In the Odesa region, a temporary ban on herring fishing will be implemented from April 20 to May 9, 2025. This restriction affects certain sections of the Danube and Dniester rivers, as well as the Dniester estuary, as reported by the «Odesa Fish Protection Patrol».
The restrictions will be in effect in the following areas:
- from April 20 to 29 — Danube River: from the mouth to the branch of the Tulchyn mouth;
- from April 20 to May 9 — Danube River: upstream from the Tulchyn mouth branch;
- from April 20 to 29 — Dniester River: from the village of Palanka to the Dubossary Hydroelectric Power Plant dam;
- from April 20 to 24 — Dniester estuary, Turunchuk arm, and main channel of the Dniester River: from the mouth to the village of Palanka (28 km mark).
This ban is introduced to protect fish populations during the spawning period. The Odesa Fish Protection Patrol will monitor compliance with these restrictions.
Violating these regulations may result in administrative or criminal liability under current legislation.
