Enhancing Accessibility in Healthcare for Individuals with Disabilities

The Odessa City Health Department is actively involved in ensuring equal access to healthcare services for individuals with disabilities.

This includes the installation of ramps, elevators, provision of specially adapted restrooms, accessible navigation, and enabling wheelchair users to navigate medical facilities independently.

Healthcare facilities are implementing measures to create a barrier-free environment for patients, including designated parking spaces, tactile paving, ramp access at entrances, ensuring elevator functionality, and adapting restrooms to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities, as well as providing information navigation using Braille.

Additional examination rooms are available on the ground floors for patient consultations, including those with special needs.

The principle of barrier-free access is being implemented in all outpatient and inpatient healthcare facilities. Furthermore, renovations have been conducted to improve access at entry points in the Primary Healthcare Center No. 2 and in diagnostic centers No. 20 and No. 29.

At the city clinical hospitals No. 1, No. 10, No. 11, and the children's clinical hospital No. 3, work continues to create inclusive wards that meet modern accessibility standards for patients with various disabilities, including severe cases requiring constant assistance.

This involves equipping with functional beds, vital signs monitoring systems, ceiling or mobile lifts, etc.

Thanks to the support of charitable organizations, the city's healthcare facilities have also received inclusive equipment, such as gynecological chairs with lifts and more.
