Advanced Surgical Techniques at Odessa Clinic
At the City Clinical Hospital No. 1, also known as the Jewish Hospital, a cutting-edge department for minimally invasive and high-tech surgery is operational. This unit is situated in the main building of the hospital, which underwent major renovations funded by the Odessa city budget. It is equipped with the latest technology, operated by experienced surgeons adhering to modern European protocols.
Each week, the department performs over 40 surgical procedures, with 80% being minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. The department specializes in operative endoscopic interventions on abdominal organs like the liver, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid, bladder, lungs, esophagus, uterus, and ovaries. Additionally, minor surgical procedures are conducted through percutaneous punctures under ultrasound guidance.
Last year, more than 5400 surgeries and over 1500 endoscopic examinations were carried out, including: 873 trauma surgeries, 847 gynecological surgeries, 441 urological surgeries, 511 ENT surgeries, 311 thoracic surgeries, and 126 vascular surgeries.
Benefits of minimally invasive surgery:
- reduced trauma: smaller incisions lead to less bleeding and decreased postoperative pain;
- faster recovery: patients typically return to their normal activities much sooner than after traditional surgery;
- improved cosmetic results: smaller scars and lower risk of complications.
